The Albizia julibrissin is also called the silk tree. This tree grows towards the light and when he has reached full sun it stards growing an umberella shaped crown. The leaves of this tree close when it gets dark, it does this to protect the fragile leaves. It loses its leaves during winter and the tree can be shaped to any dimention by pruning. The silk tree prefers a sunny spot and a well draining sandy soil. It can tolerate heavy frosts of up to -22˚C.
