Ceroxylon parvifrons originates from the Andes mountains ranging from Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador to Peru. It's the worlds highest growing palm species and grows from 2100 to a whopping 3150 meters altitude. There are roomers that they actually grow up to an altitude of 3500 meters, however this has never been confirmed. They grow in cool, moist montane forests where it never gets hot and because of the close proximity to the equator it never gets extremely cold. This palm is successfully kept in San Francisco and Ireland, where summers are moist and cool and winters mild. These specific climatic preferences makes it a challenging palm, however the green trunks, crown shafts and stiff leaves with their silvery underside makes it worth a try. This palm is a must have for the true palm enthusiast.
